Woodkid

Yoann Lemoine, better known as Woodkid, is a French musician, director, and visual artist born on March 16, 1983, in Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, near Lyon. With a background in illustration and animation, he first made a name for himself in the creative industry as a graphic designer and music video director. His Polish-Jewish heritage has influenced much of his work, often incorporating themes of nostalgia, resilience, and Eastern European imagery.

Before stepping into the music world, Lemoine worked with several global artists, directing visually striking music videos for the likes of Katy Perry (“Teenage Dream”), Lana Del Rey (“Born to Die”), Drake (“Take Care”), and Mylène Farmer. His ability to craft cinematic and emotionally charged visuals set him apart, laying the foundation for his transition into music.

As Woodkid, he released his debut album, The Golden Age, in 2013, earning widespread praise for its orchestral grandeur and storytelling depth. The album’s standout tracks, like “Run Boy Run” and “Iron,” became anthems, featuring in films, commercials, and video games. In 2020, he followed up with S16, an introspective and industrially influenced album that further cemented his reputation as a genre-defying artist. With his ability to merge sound and visuals seamlessly, Woodkid continues to captivate audiences, creating immersive artistic experiences that go beyond conventional music.
