Wegz – ويجز

Ahmed Ali, better known by his stage name Wegz, is one of the most influential voices in Arabic hip-hop today. Born on September 11, 1998, in Al Wardiyan, a neighborhood in Alexandria, Egypt, Wegz started making music as a way to express his reality. He made his debut in 2017 with the track “T.N.T,” and since then, his rise has been nothing short of remarkable.

Wegz’s sound is a bold mix of trap, shaabi, and electro-shaabi, weaving together local Egyptian rhythms with modern urban beats. His breakthrough came in 2019 with “Dorak Gai”, a song that swept across Egypt, blasting from car speakers, shops, and wedding parties. The track’s raw energy and relatability launched him into the mainstream.

From 2020 to 2022, Wegz became Spotify’s most-streamed artist in Egypt three years running. His 2022 hit “ElBakht” took things to the next level, not only dominating local charts but also making waves globally with over 187 million views on YouTube and charting on the Billboard Arabic Hot 100.

But Wegz isn’t just about music. In 2021, he made his acting debut in the series Bimbo, and in 2022, he became the first Egyptian artist to perform at a FIFA World Cup, taking the stage at the final in Qatar with “Ezz Al Arab.” He’s also been recognized by GQ Middle East and Forbes 30 Under 30.
