SONIKKU, the creative moniker of Tony Donson, is a genre-blending DJ, producer, and songwriter based in London. Originally from Derby, England, he made the move to the capital at just 18 to dive headfirst into its underground club scene—a decision that would shape his unique musical path. His name, inspired by the Japanese pronunciation of Sonic the Hedgehog, hints at a lifelong love for video games, which often echoes in his nostalgic, synth-rich soundscapes.

Known for fusing 80s-inspired synth-pop with modern electronic beats, SONIKKU first caught attention with his debut album Joyful Death in 2020. Packed with pulsing club anthems and collaborations with artists like Chester Lockhart and LIZ, the album solidified his reputation for crafting addictive, dancefloor-ready tracks like “Sweat.”

In 2021, he shifted gears with his MOLG EP (Machines of Loving Grace), pulling influence from cyberpunk aesthetics and cult video games like Metal Gear Solid 2 and Killer7. The project leaned into heavier techno sounds, showcasing his versatility and love for darker, experimental vibes.

By 2023, SONIKKU returned with Whirlwind of Malevolence, a bold, conceptual album that captures the emotional rollercoaster of a night out. Blending everything from trance to hip-hop and Europop, the project featured an eclectic mix of collaborators including Partiboi69, DJ Dave, Bayli, and Raky Ripper.
