About Wahab Bugti

Abdul Wahab Bugti, a talented folk musician from Nasirabad, Balochistan, Pakistan, is celebrated for his mastery of traditional instruments and his ability to tell captivating stories through music. He rose to fame with his performance of “Kana Yaari” on Coke Studio Pakistan’s season 14, alongside artists Kaifi Khalil and Eva B, which showcased his deep connection to Balochi folk music.

Growing up in a rural community, Bugti was mentored by a local teacher and began performing at community events from a young age. He is especially skilled at playing the dambura, a traditional string instrument central to Balochi music. His viral rendition of “Teri Mitti” from the Bollywood film Kesari in 2020 further expanded his audience, bringing his unique style to a wider global platform.

In August 2022, Balochistan was struck by devastating floods, displacing Bugti and his family. This tragedy sparked an outpouring of support from fans and public figures, including Balochistan’s chief minister and Coke Studio producer Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan.

Despite these hardships, Bugti remains a driving force in preserving and modernizing Balochi folk music. By blending traditional sounds with contemporary influences, he continues to captivate audiences both in Pakistan and worldwide, ensuring the future of this rich musical heritage.
