Giuseppe Bockarie “Laioung” Consoli, born on August 13 in Brussels, is a dynamic artist who has made significant strides in the European hip-hop and trap scene. With an Italian father and a Sierra Leonean mother, Laioung’s early years were shaped by a life of constant movement across Europe, living in Italy, France, and the UK. This diverse upbringing deeply influenced his music, infusing it with a blend of cultural and linguistic elements from his travels.
Laioung’s music career began in 2011 with his self-produced album Laïoung in Yo Eardrum, which included tracks like “Number One All Day,” a collaboration with his mother. His creativity flourished further when he co-founded the collective RRR Mob in 2014, alongside artists such as Momoney, Isi Noice, and Hichy Bangz. The collective gained attention with hits like “Flus” and the album Ave Cesare: veni, vidi, vici, recorded in Toronto.
As his solo career took off, Laioung worked with major Italian artists, including Fabri Fibra and Gué Pequeno. His 2018 hit “Nero su nero” led to a record deal with Polydor Records, propelling him into the spotlight. He continued to gain success with tracks like “Hang with Us” featuring Kollegah and “Proteggimi,” culminating in his 2019 album Rinascimento.
Beyond his musical talents, Laioung is also influential in the realms of fashion and art, using his platform to push for cultural expression and innovation. His journey, marked by resilience and artistic growth, has solidified him as a key figure in European music.
