Vance Joy

James Gabriel Keogh, better known as Vance Joy, was born on December 1, 1987, in Melbourne, Australia. Before making his mark in music, he played Australian rules football for the Coburg Football Club and pursued law at Monash University. However, his true passion lay in music, and he soon shifted focus to become a successful artist.

Vance Joy gained significant attention in 2013 with his debut EP God Loves You When You’re Dancing, which featured the breakout hit “Riptide.” The track quickly became a global sensation, topping Australia’s Triple J Hottest 100 in 2013 and charting internationally, establishing him as a rising star.

In September 2014, Vance Joy released his debut album, Dream Your Life Away, which included popular singles such as “Mess Is Mine” and “First Time.” The album’s success earned him the ARIA Award for Best Male Artist in 2015, cementing his place in the Australian music scene.
