About Tilian

Tilian Pearson, born on July 12, 1987, in Clearwater, Florida, is an American singer, songwriter, and musician known for his contributions to rock and post-hardcore music. He initially gained recognition as a founding member of the progressive rock band Tides of Man, where he served as the lead vocalist and guitarist. The band released two studio albums and an EP before Tilian left in 2010 to explore other opportunities. During this time, he briefly worked with bands like Saosin and Emarosa, although no official material was produced.

In 2012, Tilian joined the post-hardcore band Dance Gavin Dance as their clean vocalist, replacing Jonny Craig. His tenure with the band was marked by contributions to several successful albums, including Acceptance Speech (2013), Instant Gratification (2015), Mothership (2016), Artificial Selection (2018), and Afterburner (2020). These albums helped solidify Dance Gavin Dance’s position as a significant force in the post-hardcore scene.

In addition to his work with Dance Gavin Dance, Tilian pursued a solo career under his own name. His solo releases, such as Material Me (2013), Perfect Enemy (2015), The Skeptic (2018), and Factory Reset (2021), showcase a unique blend of electropop and melodic rock, highlighting his versatility as an artist.

However, Tilian’s career has been marred by controversy. In June 2022, allegations of sexual assault surfaced, leading to a temporary departure from Dance Gavin Dance. He returned in 2023 but ultimately left the band permanently in April 2024, marking a turbulent chapter in his career. Despite this, his impact on rock and post-hardcore remains significant.
