OZworld, born Ryu Yeong-gi on November 17, 1997, in Kadena, Okinawa, Japan, has become a significant figure in the Japanese hip-hop scene. Raised by his mother after his parents’ separation, he developed a deep interest in street culture during his youth. His passion for music started in high school, where he began rapping and quickly gained attention for his performances in the 9th and 10th High School Rap Championships. This exposure laid the foundation for his music career.

Initially performing under the name R’kuma, OZworld made a major shift in 2018, adopting his current stage name. That same year, he released “畳 -Tatami-,” which marked a pivotal moment in his rise as an artist. His blend of traditional Japanese elements with modern hip-hop beats set him apart from his peers, showcasing a unique fusion of cultural influences in his music.

In 2019, OZworld released his debut album, OZWORLD, which further solidified his standing in the industry. The album highlighted his innovative approach, combining contemporary hip-hop with traditional Japanese sounds to create a distinct, original style that resonated with fans both in Japan and internationally.
