About Three Days Grace
Three Days Grace is a powerhouse of modern rock, hailing from Norwood, Ontario, Canada. Originally formed in 1997 under the name Groundswell, the band reinvented itself after a brief break, reemerging as Three Days Grace with a lineup that included Adam Gontier on vocals and guitar, Brad Walst on bass, and Neil Sanderson on drums. In 2003, guitarist Barry Stock joined, rounding out the sound that would help define post-grunge in the 2000s.
Their explosive debut came with the 2003 self-titled album, featuring the angst-laden anthem “I Hate Everything About You.” It struck a chord with fans and set the tone for their emotionally raw and heavy-hitting sound. The band followed up with One-X in 2006, a breakthrough album packed with hits like “Animal I Have Become” and “Pain.” Over the next few years, albums like Life Starts Now (2009) and Transit of Venus (2012) reflected their evolving style, balancing aggression with melody.
In 2013, Gontier stepped away due to personal health struggles, and Matt Walst—Brad’s brother and frontman of My Darkest Days—stepped in as lead vocalist. With Matt, the band released Human (2015), Outsider (2018), and Explosions (2022), continuing their reign on the rock charts.
In a surprise turn, 2024 saw Gontier rejoin the band, resulting in a unique dual-frontman lineup. Their first single together, “Mayday,” signaled a bold new chapter, with their upcoming album Alienation slated for release in August 2025. With renewed energy and a legacy of anthemic rock, Three Days Grace continues to captivate fans old and new.
