The Halo Effect

The Halo Effect is a Swedish melodic death metal band formed in 2019 in Gothenburg by five former members of the iconic band In Flames: Jesper Strömblad and Niclas Engelin on guitar, Peter Iwers on bass, Daniel Svensson on drums, and Mikael Stanne as the lead vocalist. Their goal was to recapture the spirit of the legendary “Gothenburg sound,” which helped shape the melodic death metal genre during the 1990s.

The band’s name, “The Halo Effect,” is inspired by a track from Rush’s Clockwork Angels album. They made their debut in November 2021 with the release of the single “Shadowminds,” setting the stage for their first full-length album, Days of the Lost. Dropped in August 2022, the album debuted at number one on the Swedish charts and earned critical praise for its pure, unfiltered melodic death metal sound that fans had longed for.

In September 2024, The Halo Effect unveiled “Detonate,” the first single from their highly anticipated second album, March of the Unheard, which was officially released on January 10, 2025. This album marks a continued exploration of the melodic death metal genre, further solidifying their place at the forefront of the scene.

The current lineup of The Halo Effect includes Engelin, Iwers, Stanne, Strömblad, and Svensson. Signed to Nuclear Blast Records, the band remains committed to touring and sharing their music with metal fans worldwide.
