About Stevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks, born Stephanie Lynn Nicks on May 26, 1948, in Phoenix, Arizona, is one of the most iconic singer-songwriters in rock history. Known for her ethereal voice, poetic storytelling, and bohemian style, she has left an undeniable mark on music, both as a solo artist and as a member of Fleetwood Mac.

Nicks’ musical journey began early, inspired by her grandfather, a country singer who introduced her to performing. While in high school, she met guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, and the two formed the band Fritz, opening for legends like Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. Their chemistry eventually led to the formation of the duo Buckingham Nicks, whose self-titled 1973 album, though initially unsuccessful, caught the attention of Mick Fleetwood.

In 1975, Fleetwood Mac invited Nicks and Buckingham to join the band, forever altering its course. With Nicks’ songwriting contributions, including the timeless hit “Rhiannon” and “Landslide”, Fleetwood Mac became a global phenomenon. Their 1977 album Rumours, featuring Nicks’ chart-topping song “Dreams”, remains one of the best-selling albums of all time.

Venturing into a solo career in the early ‘80s, Nicks released Bella Donna (1981), which went multi-platinum and established her as a powerhouse on her own. Hits like “Edge of Seventeen” and “Stand Back” solidified her legacy, even as she battled personal struggles.

Honored as the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice—once with Fleetwood Mac (1998) and later as a solo artist (2019)—Nicks continues to inspire generations with her music, mystique, and unwavering spirit.
