Carlos Isaías Morales Williams, known professionally as Sech, is a Panamanian singer, songwriter, and producer who has become a prominent figure in Latin music with his unique fusion of reggaeton and heartfelt, romantic lyrics. Born on December 3, 1993, in the Río Abajo township of Panama City, Sech grew up as the youngest of four children in a family of pastors. His musical foundation was shaped by singing in his church choir, where he discovered his vocal talent. Outside of church, he admired the harmonies of Boyz II Men and enjoyed writing poetry, laying the groundwork for his distinctive, melody-driven style. To support himself after high school, he worked in food service and construction, making music on the side with his friend and producer Focking Rafita. His musical aspirations were humble but persistent; he began his career singing as a street vendor, capturing the attention of local listeners.

In 2014, Sech released his debut single, “Yo Sin Ti,” which marked the beginning of his journey as a solo artist. He continued to release new music, gaining gradual recognition until his 2017 track “Miss Lonely” went viral in Colombia. The song’s success attracted the attention of DJ and producer Dimelo Flow, who recognized Sech’s potential. Sech’s career catapulted in 2019 with the release of “Otro Trago,” a song that would define his ascent to international fame. The track topped charts in countries such as Panama, Mexico, Spain, and Argentina, and earned him a spot on the Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at number 34. Sech described “Otro Trago” as the song that truly changed his life, and its success helped him gain nominations at the Latin Grammy Awards for Best Urban Song and Best Urban Fusion/Performance. Riding the wave of this success, he released his debut studio album, Sueños, which debuted at number three on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart. The album included collaborations with artists like Farruko and Zion & Lennox and was highly acclaimed, ranking on Rolling Stone’s “25 Best Latin Albums of 2019.”

In 2020, Sech continued to make his mark with his second album, 1 of 1, which featured singles like “Si Te Vas” with Ozuna and “Relación.” The latter became a top-10 hit on the Hot Latin Songs chart and gained further popularity on TikTok, adding to Sech’s international appeal. He described 1 of 1 as a tribute to Panama’s classic reggae en español, blending contemporary reggaeton with a nostalgic nod to his roots.

Sech’s versatility and willingness to experiment have made him a sought-after collaborator, leading to features with major artists like Daddy Yankee, Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Rosalía. In April 2021, he released his third studio album, 42, a tribute to Jackie Robinson’s iconic baseball number, which holds significance for Sech as a Panamanian because of baseball legend Mariano Rivera.

Sech’s music is characterized by a smooth tenor voice, romantic themes, and his commitment to positive vibes, which he blends with urban and reggae influences. Citing El General as one of his musical inspirations, Sech also expresses an interest in incorporating jazz into his compositions, highlighting his eagerness to explore new musical landscapes.
