Roddy Ricch

Rodrick Wayne Moore Jr., better known as Roddy Ricch, was born on October 22, 1998, in Compton, California. Growing up between South Central Los Angeles and Compton, he was raised in a Christian household. Roddy’s musical journey began early, rapping at the age of eight. By the time he was twelve, he had already performed for Kendrick Lamar, who was just beginning to make his mark on the music scene.

In 2017, Roddy made his debut with the mixtape Feed Tha Streets, which featured tracks like “Position” and “Chase tha Bag,” catching the attention of heavyweights like Meek Mill and Nipsey Hussle. He followed this up with Feed Tha Streets II in 2018, which included the emotionally charged hit “Die Young,” inspired by the death of rapper XXXTentacion. The song was a breakout moment, showcasing his ability to blend deep introspection with melodic hooks.

Roddy’s mainstream success exploded in 2019 with his debut studio album, Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, with the record-breaking single “The Box,” which dominated the charts for 11 weeks. The song’s iconic squeaky sound became a viral sensation on TikTok, propelling Roddy into superstardom.

In 2021, Roddy dropped his second album, Live Life Fast, which peaked at number four on the Billboard 200. The lead single, “Late at Night,” was a top 20 hit. Looking ahead, Roddy is gearing up for his third studio album, The Navy Album, slated for release in 2025.
