Rob49, born Robert Coleman Thomas on March 6, 1999, in New Orleans, Louisiana, is an emerging rapper known for his gritty Southern trap sound and impactful collaborations. Raised in the Iberville Projects at the crossroads of New Orleans’ 4th and 9th Wards, Rob49’s environment played a major role in shaping his music and his stage name.

His early life was marked by significant challenges, including the incarceration of his father and the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, which forced his family to relocate to Houston. Despite these hardships, Rob49 stayed resilient, finding inspiration in artists like Future, Meek Mill, and The Weeknd, while gaining popularity in school for his positive attitude and talents.

Initially pursuing a nursing degree at Southern University, Rob49 eventually dropped out after two semesters to pursue music full-time. He began his rap career in 2020, quickly releasing three mixtapes: 4our the World, Vulture, and Krazy Man. His big break came in 2021 with the mixtape 4God, followed by Welcome to Vulture Island in 2022. Rob49 garnered national attention in 2023 with his guest feature on Travis Scott’s “Topia Twins,” which reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 2023, Rob49 made the XXL Freshman Class and released his sixth mixtape, 4God II, featuring collaborations with Birdman, Roddy Ricch, and G Herbo. He also co-headlined the “Vultures Eat the Most” tour with Skilla Baby, drawing inspiration from Travis Scott. With his raw storytelling and electrifying delivery, Rob49 is quickly becoming a key figure in Southern hip-hop.
