About Red Velvet – IRENE & SEULGI

Red Velvet – IRENE & SEULGI is the first official sub-unit of the acclaimed K-pop girl group Red Velvet, created under SM Entertainment. Featuring Irene (Bae Joo-hyun) and Seulgi (Kang Seul-gi), two of Red Velvet’s most charismatic performers, the duo made their highly anticipated debut on July 6, 2020, with the mini-album Monster. The project marked a bold shift from the group’s usual sound, embracing a darker, more experimental concept. With tracks like the hauntingly addictive “Monster” and the slick, choreography-heavy “Naughty,” the EP delivered a refined fusion of R&B, dubstep, and dance-pop. It was an instant hit, selling over 100,000 copies within its first three days, proving their star power as a unit.

In 2025, Irene and Seulgi returned as a duo with their second EP, Tilt, released on May 26. The project explored emotional themes of equilibrium and personal connection, pairing smooth R&B influences with fresh electronic undertones. The EP’s layered production and lyrical depth reflected the pair’s artistic growth and synergy. To bring Tilt to life, they launched their first-ever joint concert tour, “Balance,” which kicked off in Seoul on June 14 and wrapped up in Tokyo on September 25, spanning seven countries across Asia. Praised for their tight synchronization, expressive performance style, and unique chemistry, Red Velvet – IRENE & SEULGI continue to push creative boundaries, solidifying their reputation as one of K-pop’s most compelling and versatile sub-units.
