Rohith Abraham, better known by his stage name ofRo, is a trailblazing Indian record producer, singer, and songwriter who has made significant strides in the Tamil hip-hop and independent music scenes. Born on July 19, 1987, in Chennai, India, ofRo’s passion for music ignited at the age of seven when he began learning the piano, later expanding his talents to electronic instruments. He pursued his higher education at Loyola College and then further refined his skills at the SAE Institute in Byron Bay, Australia, graduating in 2013.

In 2014, ofRo stepped into the professional music world, contributing as an additional programmer for the acclaimed composer Harris Jayaraj in the movie Yennai Arindhaal. However, it was in 2019 that ofRo truly made his mark with the release of Therukural, an album he co-created with rapper Arivu. The album, which tackles issues of caste and class divisions in India, received widespread praise and was named one of the top ten Indian albums of 2019 by Rolling Stone India. Known for blending traditional Tamil sounds with contemporary hip-hop, ofRo’s work, like tracks such as “Kalla Mouni” and “Anti Indian,” showcases his unique production style.

Beyond his music, ofRo is deeply committed to supporting independent music. He co-founded Atti Culture, a record label and production company, and Madras Medai, a music festival aimed at promoting independent music in South India. His collaborations with artists like Asal Kolaar, producing tracks like “Jorthaale” and “Adi Odi,” have only solidified his standing in the industry. With his innovative sound and social consciousness, ofRo continues to be a pivotal figure in shaping the future of Tamil and independent music.
