Miguel

Miguel Jontel Pimentel, known simply as Miguel, was born on October 23, 1985, in San Pedro, California. Growing up in a culturally rich household with a Mexican American father and an African American mother, he was exposed to a diverse range of music, including R&B, funk, hip-hop, rock, and jazz. This eclectic environment sparked his passion for music, and by the age of 14, Miguel began writing and recording his own songs.

His professional journey took off in 2007 when he signed with Jive Records. Miguel’s debut album, All I Want Is You, was released in November 2010, with the title track—featuring rapper J. Cole—becoming a sleeper hit and propelling him into the spotlight.

Over the years, Miguel has gained recognition for his innovative approach to R&B, blending traditional genres with modern sounds. His work has earned him numerous accolades, including Grammy and BET Awards, further cementing his status as a leading figure in contemporary music.

In addition to his musical success, Miguel has expanded his horizons into acting, appearing in films such as The Fate of the Furious (2017) and Day Shift (2022). Known for infusing his diverse cultural background into his art, Miguel continues to captivate audiences worldwide with his unique and boundary-pushing style.
