JKT48

JKT48, formed in 2011, is a prominent Indonesian all-female idol group based in Jakarta. As the first overseas sister group of Japan’s AKB48, JKT48 embraced the unique concept of “idols you can meet,” allowing fans to connect with the members through regular performances at their dedicated theater in the fX Sudirman shopping mall. This innovative approach set them apart from other musical acts and created a strong bond between the group and its loyal fanbase.

The group was born out of an extensive audition process, where over 1,200 hopefuls competed for a spot. Ultimately, 28 talented members were selected to debut, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Indonesia’s music scene. JKT48 quickly gained attention with their energetic performances and engaging personalities, steadily growing in popularity as they introduced their own unique take on the idol culture.

JKT48’s first studio album, “Heavy Rotation,” released in 2013, featured a mix of songs from AKB48’s repertoire, showcasing their musical range while staying true to the original concept. Over the years, JKT48 has experienced numerous lineup changes, including graduations and the introduction of new members, which has kept the group fresh and evolving. As of 2025, the group consists of 58 active members, encompassing both regular performers and trainees, all of whom contribute to the group’s dynamic.

In 2020, JKT48 made a significant milestone with the release of their first original single, “Rapsodi,” marking a new phase in their musical journey. Their ability to evolve while maintaining strong connections with fans has solidified their position as one of Indonesia’s most beloved idol groups.
