Jay Wheeler

José Ángel López Martínez, known professionally as Jay Wheeler, is a Puerto Rican singer and songwriter renowned for his romantic and emotive contributions to reggaeton and Latin music. Born on April 25, 1994, in Salinas, Puerto Rico, Wheeler was raised in a religious family where he cultivated his love for music by learning to sing and play the piano in church.

In 2016, a video of Wheeler showcasing his vocal talent went viral, marking the start of his musical career. This exposure led him to sign with Dynamic Records in 2018, and he released his debut single “Por Tu Culpa,” which highlighted his soulful voice and lyrical depth. His debut album Platónico was released in 2019, produced by the renowned DJ Nelson. The album included the hit remix of “Otra Noche Más” featuring Farruko, which further solidified his presence in the Latin music scene.

Wheeler continued to build his career with the release of Platónicos in 2020, featuring the chart-topping single “La Curiosidad” with Myke Towers, which reached number five on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart.

Beyond his music career, Wheeler’s personal life also garnered attention when he married fellow singer Zhamira Zambrano in December 2022. The couple welcomed their daughter in September 2024.
