India Martínez

enifer Yésica Martínez Fernández, better known as India Martínez, was born on October 13, 1985, in Córdoba, Spain. She is a highly acclaimed Spanish singer renowned for seamlessly blending flamenco with pop music, creating a unique and captivating sound.

India’s musical journey began early. At just five years old, she immersed herself in flamenco dance under the guidance of Nieves Camacho. By the age of 11, her family moved to Puerto de Roquetas de Mar in Almería, where she started performing in local cafés. Her distinctive voice and passion for music earned her the nickname “La Niña del Puerto.”

In 2004, India Martínez debuted with her album Azulejos de Lunares, which highlighted her unique fusion of flamenco and pop. Her follow-up albums, Despertar (2009) and Trece Verdades (2011), further cemented her position in the Spanish music scene, with Trece Verdades reaching the top ten on the Spanish charts and earning Platinum certification.

Her musical contributions have been widely celebrated, earning her multiple accolades. She was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award in 2009 and won the Premio Cadena Dial in 2012 for Trece Verdades. In 2015, she received the prestigious Goya Award for Best Original Song for “Niño sin miedo,” featured in the film El Niño.

India has also collaborated with celebrated artists like David Bisbal, Enrique Iglesias, and Abel Pintos. As of 2022, she remains a prominent figure in the Spanish music industry, captivating audiences worldwide with her evolving sound.
