About Harmonize

Rajab Abdul Kahali, better known by his stage name Harmonize, is a prominent Tanzanian Bongo Flava recording artist and entrepreneur. Born on October 3, 1991, in Tanzania, Harmonize has emerged as a significant figure in East African music. He completed his secondary education in 2009 and has been a resident of Dar es Salaam since then. Harmonize’s musical journey began in 2011, but it wasn’t until 2015 that he gained substantial recognition with the release of his debut song “Aiyola.” The track’s success marked the beginning of his career and established him as a rising star in the Tanzanian music scene.

Harmonize’s early years in music were marked by a series of collaborations and successful releases. His 2015 single “Kwa Ngwaru,” featuring Diamond Platnumz, and “Show Me,” featuring Rich Mavoko, were significant hits that helped solidify his presence in the industry. In 2017, his talent was further acknowledged when MTV Base included him in their African edition of “Ones to Watch for 2017.” That same year, he became the first artist to sign with Diamond Platnumz’s WCB Wasafi label, which played a crucial role in his initial rise to fame.

During his time with WCB Wasafi, Harmonize achieved considerable success, winning awards from WatsUp TV, AFRIMMA, and AEA USA. His debut EP, “Afro Bongo,” released on May 25, 2019, was a milestone in his career. The EP featured collaborations with notable African artists such as Diamond Platnumz, Burna Boy, Mr. Eazi, and Yemi Alade. The single “Kainama” from the EP garnered significant attention, with its music video amassing over 14 million views within a year.

In late 2019, Harmonize decided to part ways with WCB Wasafi and founded his own record label, Konde Music Worldwide. This move allowed him greater creative freedom and led to the release of several projects. His debut studio album, “Afro East,” came out on March 14, 2020, and was well-received for its fusion of Afropop with Singeli and Bongo. The album featured collaborations with artists like Burna Boy, Lady Jay Dee, Phyno, and Yemi Alade, showcasing his ability to blend diverse musical influences.

Harmonize’s second studio album, “High School,” was released on November 5, 2021. The album, which followed his successful “Afro East,” included tracks like “Sandakalawe” and “Teacher.” It featured fewer collaborations compared to his previous works, with contributions from Naira Marley, Sarkodie, Busiswa, and others. The project was marked by a more personal touch and received positive feedback from critics.

On October 28, 2022, Harmonize released his third studio album, “Made for Us,” which was praised for its introspective and personal nature. The 14-track album included features from Spice, Ntoshi Gazi, Abby Chams, and Bruce Melodie. Although Harmonize chose not to promote the album extensively, it was critically acclaimed and regarded as one of his most personal works.

Harmonize’s fourth studio album, “Visit Bongo,” was released on November 24, 2023, and was recognized as the best Tanzanian album of 2023 by Notjustok. His single “I Made It,” featuring American rapper Bobby Shmurda and Kenyan singer Bien, was released on January 30, 2024, further demonstrating his continued influence in the music industry.

Aside from his musical achievements, Harmonize’s entrepreneurial spirit is evident through his Konde Music Worldwide label, which has signed various artists including Ibraah, Country Wizzy, Anjella, Killy, and Cheedy. Despite some departures, Ibraah remains with the label, highlighting Harmonize’s ongoing influence in shaping the East African music landscape.
