About Ed Maverick

Ed Maverick, born Eduardo Hernández Saucedo on January 19, 2001, in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico, is a Mexican singer-songwriter who has become a leading voice in Latin America’s indie music movement. Known for his raw lyrics and stripped-down acoustic sound, Ed connects deeply with listeners through themes of heartbreak, identity, and growing up.

He picked up the guitar in his teens, teaching himself through online videos and playing local gigs. Inspired by artists like Jake Bugg and regional Mexican folk acts, he began uploading home-recorded tracks to YouTube and SoundCloud. His breakout came in 2018 with the album Mix pa’ llorar en tu cuarto, which featured the viral hit “Fuentes de Ortiz.” The song’s blend of teenage melancholy and folk-pop charm resonated widely, quickly making him a household name in Mexico.

Fame, however, came with challenges. In 2019, Ed released the Transiciones EP, reflecting on his sudden rise. Facing online harassment and the pressure of the spotlight, he briefly stepped away from social media. In 2021, he returned stronger with Eduardo, a deeply personal album that chronicled his struggles with fame and mental health. His collaboration with C. Tangana on “Párteme la Cara” won a Latin Grammy, further solidifying his artistry.

In 2024, Ed returned to his roots with La Nube en el Jardín, embracing simplicity and emotional clarity. Despite his youth, Ed Maverick has crafted an honest, emotionally rich body of work that continues to inspire a generation of Latin indie fans.
