Luian Malavé Nieves, better known as DJ Luian, is a trailblazing Puerto Rican DJ, producer, and songwriter who has left a lasting mark on the reggaeton and Latin trap movements. Born on September 29, 1990, in Carolina, Puerto Rico, his passion for music emerged early, and by 2010, he was already contributing to major projects like Don Omar’s Meet the Orphans. That early exposure would spark a career that continues to influence the sound of Latin urban music today.

In 2015, DJ Luian teamed up with the Mambo Kingz to launch the independent label Hear This Music, which quickly became a cornerstone of the Latin trap explosion. Their 2016 release “La Ocasión,” featuring De La Ghetto, Arcángel, Ozuna, and Anuel AA, was a defining moment—one that introduced the genre to a global audience and set the stage for a wave of genre-bending talent.

Luian is also known for spotting raw talent, most notably discovering Bad Bunny in the early days of his career. It was under Luian’s wing that Bad Bunny dropped the remix of “Diles,” a track that became the launching pad for his meteoric rise.

With a distinct production style that blends classic Latin rhythms with bold, modern beats, DJ Luian has worked with artists like J Balvin, Becky G, and Maluma.
