Growing up in a musically inclined family, he began playing the piano at just four years old. After the untimely death of his father, Rahman took on the responsibility of supporting his family through music. His passion led him to study Western classical music at Trinity College in London, blending his deep-rooted Indian influences with global sounds.
Rahman’s rise to fame began with the 1992 Tamil film Roja, directed by Mani Ratnam. The soundtrack not only earned him a National Film Award but also introduced a fresh, experimental sound to Indian cinema. Over the years, he became a household name with iconic scores for films like Bombay, Dil Se, Lagaan, and Jodhaa Akbar, known for merging traditional Indian melodies with electronic and world music.
