Cassandra Jenkins

Cassandra Jenkins is an American singer-songwriter and musician celebrated for her ethereal blend of ambient pop and folk influences. Growing up in New York City, Jenkins was surrounded by music from an early age, with her parents performing on cruise ships during the 1980s. By the time she was 12, she was already touring the East Coast folk circuit with her family’s band, gaining experience and refining her musical skills.

After completing her studies in visual arts at the Rhode Island School of Design in 2006, Jenkins worked as an editorial assistant at The New Yorker before transitioning fully into her music career.

She released her debut EP in 2013, marking the beginning of her solo journey. Her first full-length album, Play Till You Win, followed in 2017, but it was her 2021 album, An Overview on Phenomenal Nature, that earned widespread critical acclaim. Produced by Josh Kaufman, the album explores themes of human connection and self-discovery, incorporating field recordings and poetic lyrics.

In 2024, Jenkins expanded her musical repertoire with her third album, My Light, My Destroyer, which blends indie rock, new age, sophistipop, and jazz. The album has been praised for its innovative sound and emotional depth.

Throughout her career, Jenkins has collaborated with a range of artists, including Eleanor Friedberger, Craig Finn, and Lola Kirke. Though she was set to tour with Purple Mountains in 2019, the tour was sadly canceled. Her music continues to captivate audiences with its introspective lyrics and diverse sound.
