Charley Yang, born on August 25, 2002, in Daegu, South Korea, is an American singer, songwriter, and musician who performs under the name BoyWithUke. After moving to Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, as a child, Yang began his musical journey. He was introduced to classical music at a young age, but soon transitioned to contemporary styles, using GarageBand on his iPad to create his own compositions.

BoyWithUke rose to prominence in 2021, gaining attention on TikTok with his “Minute-Long Songs” series. Tracks like “Two Moons” and “Toxic” captured the hearts of listeners, with “Toxic” reaching number one on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart and earning platinum certification from the RIAA.

In the same year, BoyWithUke released his debut album Melatonin Dreams, followed by Fever Dreams. His 2022 album Serotonin Dreams debuted at number seven on both the Billboard Alternative Airplay and Billboard 200 charts, further solidifying his place in the music world. He also toured with the indie-pop trio AJR in 2022.

In October 2023, BoyWithUke revealed his identity by removing his LED mask in the music video for “Homesick.” He shared that while the mask had given him confidence, it was now affecting his well-being. With this revelation, BoyWithUke announced a new chapter in his career under the name Chandol, marking a significant transition in his artistic journey. His evolution from an anonymous online artist to a well-known musician reflects his growth and adaptability within the music industry.
