Tim Bergling, known worldwide as Avicii, was a Swedish DJ, music producer, and songwriter who transformed the landscape of electronic music. Born on September 8, 1989, in Stockholm, he began creating music in his bedroom as a teenager, uploading remixes and original tracks online. His breakthrough came with the release of “Levels” in 2011—a song that became an international anthem and helped shape the sound of modern EDM.

Avicii’s 2013 debut album, True, broke boundaries by blending electronic beats with elements of country and folk, most notably on the global hit “Wake Me Up” featuring Aloe Blacc. This genre-bending style earned him acclaim not just as a producer, but as a visionary artist capable of redefining what electronic music could be. His influence reached far beyond the club scene, inspiring a new generation of DJs and producers.

While his career soared, Avicii privately battled health issues, including acute pancreatitis, partially caused by excessive alcohol use. After a series of hospitalizations and surgeries, he made the difficult decision to retire from touring in 2016 to focus on his mental and physical well-being.

Tragically, on April 20, 2018, Avicii died by suicide while on vacation in Oman. He was only 28. In his memory, his family established the Tim Bergling Foundation, which now advocates for mental health awareness and suicide prevention, especially within the music industry.
