Simmer Lyrics

[Verse 1]
가짜 peace, quiet, a calm spirit
Wait, wait,
미지근해, that’s what you wish, wish, wish

[Refrain]
Count ten Mississippi, 이제 곧 feel it, feel it
튀기는 튀기는 spark, freaky, freaky, 조심해 watch it, watch it
Up in the, up in the top, keep it, keep it, 조금씩 fifty-fifty
저 아래 숨겨진 bomb, step it step it, ’bout to go beasty, beasty
예상한 것보다 massive, bust it bust it, it could be risky, risky

[Pre-Chorus]

[Chorus]
We’re at the simmer, simmer (Just simmer now)
Simmer, simmer (Can’t get enough)
Keep ya eyes on me
Keep ya eyes on me
We’re at the simmer, simmer (Just simmer now)
Simmer, simmer (Can’t get enough)

[Verse 2]
I can’t deny, 불안정한 pace
Why you calculate?

[Refrain]
Count ten Mississippi, you gotta feel it, feel it
터지는 터지는 spark, freaky, freaky, 조심해 watch it, watch it
Up in the, up in the top, keep it, keep it, 서로가 fifty-fifty
내 안의 숨겨진 bomb, step it, step it, ’bout to go beasty, beasty
계산한 것보다 massive, bust it bust it, it could be risky, risky

[Pre-Chorus]

[Chorus]
We’re at the simmer, simmer (Just simmer now)
Simmer, simmer (Can’t get enough)
Keep ya eyes on me
Keep ya eyes on me
We’re at the simmer, simmer (Just simmer now)
Simmer, simmer (Can’t get enough)

[Bridge]
Sit down for my turn,

[Pre-Chorus]

[Chorus]
We’re at the simmer, simmer (Just simmer now)
Simmer, simmer (Can’t get enough)
Keep ya eyes on me
Keep ya eyes on me
We’re at the simmer, simmer (Just simmer now)
Simmer, simmer (Can’t get enough)

Simmer Lyrics Meaning

[Verse 1]
NEXZ opens the track by illustrating a deceptive calm, a “fake peace” that conceals burning intensity beneath the surface. The contrast between outward quietness and inner heat mirrors the concept of suppressed emotions or hidden strength. The reference to drawing a bowstring backward represents strategic preparation—pulling back to launch forward with force. As the verse progresses, the energy escalates with references to danger, uncontainable force, and surprise attacks, establishing a tone of silent power waiting to erupt.

[Refrain]
This section reinforces the simmering tension, using the imagery of counting down like a ticking time bomb. Words like “spark,” “freaky,” and “bomb” build on the idea of an impending explosion. The repetition and sound patterns mimic the rhythmic ticking of something volatile, while the mention of “fifty-fifty” suggests a balance between control and chaos. The creeping sounds and sensations described, like the “squeaky” warning and chills, deepen the suspense and amplify the danger of what’s brewing beneath the surface.

[Pre-Chorus]
The pre-chorus captures a moment suspended in silence before an inevitable burst. NEXZ reflects on the perfect atmosphere for something powerful to happen—everything feels too calm, too still. It’s the quiet before the storm, where even breath feels like it might shatter the tension. This line draws listeners closer into the simmering mood that defines the song.

[Chorus]
The chorus solidifies the track’s metaphor: they are at the “simmer” point—not yet boiling, but close enough that the heat is undeniable. NEXZ commands attention, signaling that the tipping point is near and their potential remains unknown to others. There’s an addictive thrill in this uncertain space, one that teases danger but also invites excitement. The repeated phrase “Keep ya eyes on me” signals both warning and allure, emphasizing control and presence.

[Verse 2]
In the second verse, NEXZ further explores duality—wearing a “poker face” to hide instability and tension. The atmosphere is tight and ready to snap, with nature-driven metaphors like a hurricane adding urgency. The verse highlights unpredictability, as even those trying to anticipate the outcome are left guessing. When the pressure finally breaks, it happens swiftly and ferociously, representing the true release of all that was hidden.

[Refrain]
This repeat of the refrain introduces new lyrical nuances while maintaining the track’s core tension. It suggests mutual unpredictability (“서로가 fifty-fifty”) and further emphasizes the buried potential for eruption. The “squeaky” warnings and chills return, reinforcing the idea that the listener is still in the presence of something explosive, something dangerous if underestimated.

[Pre-Chorus]
Once again, NEXZ returns to the eerie calm just before detonation. Repeating this section heightens the emotional stakes—it’s not just a one-time feeling but a recurring state. The looming threat remains ever-present, reminding the listener of the track’s central theme.

[Chorus]
The chorus reprises with its hypnotic rhythm and commanding presence. It reinforces the concept of being underestimated and the thrill that lives on the edge of control. The heat hasn’t yet boiled over, but NEXZ ensures the listener feels that it’s coming.

[Bridge]
The bridge shifts the dynamic slightly. Here, NEXZ addresses the listener directly, highlighting how unnoticed movements and hidden sparks can suddenly ignite everything. There’s a growing intensity in this section as they declare a “red flag warning,” signaling imminent combustion. The bridge conveys confidence and the certainty that their moment is near, framing the simmering energy as purposeful and inevitable.

[Pre-Chorus]
This final pre-chorus echoes with greater weight after the bridge, now charged with the promise of what’s to come. The atmosphere is the same, but the context has shifted—it’s not just tension, but the lead-up to action.

[Chorus]
The closing chorus brings everything full circle. The heat, the control, the unpredictability—it all culminates here with repetition that feels more like a final warning. NEXZ’s simmer has reached its peak, and the listener is left anticipating the inevitable eruption beyond the song’s end.
