About Xavi

Joshua Xavier Gutierrez Alonso, known professionally as Xavi, is an American singer-songwriter who has quickly risen to prominence in the regional Mexican music scene. He was born on May 5, 2004, in Phoenix, Arizona. Xavi’s musical journey began at a young age. His early interest in music led him to start playing the guitar at just ten years old, and by the age of twelve, he was already writing his own songs. Influenced by Latin pop acts such as Camila and Sin Bandera, Xavi’s early work was marked by a blend of traditional Mexican sounds and contemporary pop elements.

Xavi’s career took off in 2020 with the release of his debut single, “Vete Ya,” through Baga Music. The song garnered initial attention, setting the stage for his future success. However, his rising career faced a significant setback when he was involved in a severe car accident shortly after signing with Interscope Records. The accident resulted in facial and skull fractures, and Xavi was told that he might never be able to sing again. Despite this grim prognosis, videos of him singing and playing guitar while hospitalized went viral on social media. His resilience and determination not only inspired many but also marked his eventual recovery and return to music.

In early 2022, Xavi shifted his musical style to embrace tumbados románticos—a subgenre of corridos tumbados that focuses on romantic themes. This new direction was a pivotal moment in his career, leading to the release of several singles that highlighted his evolving artistry. His breakthrough came in 2023 with the viral success of “La Víctima,” which resonated with audiences on TikTok and eventually made its way onto the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, where it reached the top 10. Following this success, Xavi released “Poco a Poco” in collaboration with Los Dareyes de la Sierra and “Modo DND” with Tony Aguirre, both of which also charted successfully.

The momentum continued with the release of “La Diabla” in December 2023. The single debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 76 and eventually peaked at number 20, marking Xavi’s second breakthrough single. It also topped various charts, including the US Hot Latin Songs chart and Spotify’s Global chart, becoming the longest-running number-one Latin song on Spotify. This success solidified Xavi’s position as a major force in the music industry.

In 2024, Xavi announced his first tour, the Poco a Poco Tour, which would kick off in Mexico City and Guadalajara before heading to cities in the Western United States. This tour represents a significant milestone in his career, showcasing his growing popularity and international appeal.

Xavi’s musical style, characterized by its emotional depth and fusion of traditional Mexican and modern pop influences, has garnered him a dedicated fan base. His journey from a young aspiring musician to a rising star in regional Mexican music is a testament to his talent and resilience. Despite the challenges he faced, Xavi’s rapid ascent and inspiring comeback have established him as one of the most promising artists in contemporary Latin music.
