Vishal Mishra

Vishal Mishra is an accomplished Indian music composer and singer who has garnered widespread recognition for his soul-stirring compositions and captivating voice. Born on December 8, 1990, Mishra was initially steered towards a career in law by his father, a lawyer by profession. However, his passion for music led him down a different path, and he began singing at a young age, eventually pursuing a career in the music industry. His early exposure to the world of music came through his participation in the singing reality show Bharat Ki Shaan: Singing Star, which aired on DD National. This marked his first significant appearance, where he caught the attention of Lalit Pandit from the famous composer duo Jatin–Lalit. Pandit became a mentor to Mishra, guiding him through the early stages of his career.

Mishra made his debut as a music composer in 2016 with the Tamil film Devi, which was simultaneously dubbed in Telugu and Hindi as Tutak Tutak Tutiya. His big break came in 2017 when he composed the song “Jaane De,” sung by Atif Aslam, for the film Qarib Qarib Singlle. Around the same time, Mishra ventured into playback singing with his debut in the film Munna Michael, and he also composed music for the Marathi film FU: Friendship Unlimited. His versatility as both a composer and singer became increasingly evident as he continued to work on a variety of projects.

Mishra’s association with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan further boosted his career. In 2018, he composed the “Rafta Rafta” medley for Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, where Khan made a special appearance in the music video. Mishra also composed the romantic track “Selfish” for the action film Race 3, which was written by and starred Salman Khan. In the same year, he composed the title track for the hit film Veere Di Wedding, featuring prominent actresses like Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor. These projects established Mishra as a rising star in the Indian music industry.

Mishra’s true breakthrough came in 2019 with the release of the chart-topping song “Kaise Hua” from the film Kabir Singh. The heartfelt composition struck a chord with audiences and became one of the most popular tracks of the year, solidifying his status as one of Bollywood’s most promising music directors. His work continued to shine with his contribution to the biopic Saand Ki Aankh, for which he composed the soundtrack.

In 2020, Mishra released the single “Manjha,” which featured actors Aayush Sharma and Saiee Manjrekar. The song became a massive hit, further expanding his fan base. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mishra composed “Phir Muskurayega India,” a motivational anthem featuring Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Jackky Bhagnani. The song aimed to uplift the spirits of the public during the national lockdown and gained significant attention for its hopeful message.
