Turnstile

Turnstile is a boundary-pushing hardcore punk band from Baltimore, Maryland, formed in 2010. The group—Brendan Yates (vocals), Franz Lyons (bass/vocals), Daniel Fang (drums), Pat McCrory (guitar), and Meg Mills (guitar)—has become a standout in the punk and alternative scenes thanks to their explosive energy and fearless experimentation.

They first made waves with their 2011 debut EP Pressure to Succeed, followed by Step 2 Rhythm in 2013, which introduced their raw, high-octane sound. Their first full-length album, Nonstop Feeling (2015), signaled a bold step forward, blending classic hardcore with touches of funk and melody—an early sign of their genre-defying ambitions.

In 2018, Turnstile released Time & Space via Roadrunner Records, a breakthrough project that was as unpredictable as it was powerful. Songs like “Real Thing” and “Moon” reflected a band not afraid to reinvent the rules, mixing hardcore with atmospheric textures and catchy hooks. The release earned widespread critical praise and expanded their audience far beyond the traditional punk crowd.

But it was their 2021 album Glow On that truly elevated Turnstile into a league of their own. Featuring collaborations with Blood Orange and a more melodic, dreamy sound, the album landed on numerous “Best of the Year” lists, including Rolling Stone. It even earned Grammy nominations for standout tracks like “Holiday” and “Blackout.”

With their genre-blending sound, magnetic stage presence, and open-hearted ethos, Turnstile continues to redefine what hardcore can be—welcoming, innovative, and endlessly exciting.
