Nguyễn Thảo Linh, known by her stage name tlinh, is a genre-defying Vietnamese singer, rapper, and songwriter who’s reshaping the sound and spirit of V-pop. Born on October 7, 2000, in Hanoi, she originally set her sights on a medical career while studying at Vietnam National University. But in 2020, her creative instincts took over, and she stepped boldly into the music scene with her debut single “Thích Quá Rùi Nà.”

Her big breakthrough came as the only female finalist on the first season of Rap Việt, Vietnam’s premier rap competition show. Collaborating with rap icon Suboi, tlinh captivated audiences with her bold energy and genre-bending style—a vibrant mix of pop, R&B, and hip-hop infused with Vietnamese flair. Her lyrics, often raw and emotionally honest, gave her a voice that stood out in a male-dominated scene.

In 2023, she dropped her critically acclaimed album “Ái” (which means love), a daring and introspective body of work that earned a spot on NME’s list of the top 25 Asian albums of the year. Her partnership with Apple for the music video “Đừng Làm Nó Phức Tạp” (“Don’t Make It Complicated”)—the first Southeast Asian music video shot entirely on an iPhone—further solidified her status as a creative trailblazer.

More than just a rising star, tlinh is a voice for female empowerment and self-expression. By breaking taboos and challenging cultural norms, she inspires a new generation to speak their truth unapologetically. As her global fanbase continues to grow, tlinh is undeniably one of the most exciting forces in Vietnamese music today.
