Timothy Zachery Mosley, better known as Timbaland, is an iconic figure in modern music whose trailblazing production style has redefined the sound of hip-hop and pop for over two decades. Born on March 10, 1972, in Norfolk, Virginia, Timbaland discovered his love for music early in life. A childhood accident left him partially paralyzed for months, but during recovery, he taught himself to DJ with his left hand—an early display of the resilience and creativity that would come to define his career.

In the early 1990s, he began collaborating with DeVante Swing of Jodeci, who gave him the nickname “Timbaland”—a play on the Timberland boot brand. His big break came in 1996, producing standout tracks like Aaliyah’s “One in a Million” and Ginuwine’s “Pony.” With their unorthodox beats and futuristic rhythms, these songs marked the beginning of a new era in music production.

Timbaland soon became the mastermind behind some of the biggest hits in the late ’90s and 2000s, working closely with artists such as Missy Elliott, Jay-Z, Ludacris, and Snoop Dogg.
