Tiësto

Tiësto, born Tijs Michiel Verwest on January 17, 1969, in Breda, Netherlands, is a legendary Dutch DJ and record producer who has left an undeniable mark on the global dance music scene. Often called the “Godfather of EDM,” Tiësto’s influence spans decades, genres, and generations. He started his journey in the late 1980s, playing at small clubs, and by the 1990s, he was making waves in the trance scene. In 1997, he co-founded Black Hole Recordings and released critically acclaimed compilation series like Magik and In Search of Sunrise, which cemented his role in shaping modern electronic music.

His breakthrough came in 2000 with his iconic remix of Delerium’s “Silence” featuring Sarah McLachlan—a track that gained worldwide recognition and elevated his status as a top-tier DJ. The momentum continued with his debut album In My Memory in 2001. In a groundbreaking moment for electronic music, Tiësto became the first DJ to perform at an Olympic Games, playing live at the 2004 opening ceremony in Athens.

Over the years, Tiësto has remained a trendsetter, constantly evolving with the sound of the times. His albums Just Be (2004), Elements of Life (2007), A Town Called Paradise (2014), and Drive (2023)—featuring artists like Ava Max and Charli XCX—reflect his versatility and forward-thinking approach.
