Tierra Whack

Tierra Helena Whack, born on August 11, 1995, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a groundbreaking rapper, singer, and songwriter known for her innovative approach to music and visuals. Growing up in North Philadelphia, Whack’s early love for poetry evolved into a passion for rap, setting the stage for her musical journey.

She initially began her career under the name “Dizzle Dizz” in Philadelphia’s underground scene, gaining local recognition. Seeking to broaden her creative horizons, she moved to Atlanta, where she worked at a car wash to save for music equipment, showing her determination and dedication to her craft.

In 2017, Whack signed with Interscope Records and began releasing a series of tracks, including “Toe Jam” and “Sh_ Happens.” Later that year, she released “Mumbo Jumbo,” a track with intentionally indecipherable lyrics and a visually striking music video. This video earned her a nomination for Best Music Video at the 2019 Grammy Awards.

Whack’s debut album, Whack World, dropped in 2018, earning critical acclaim for its unique format. Each of its 15 tracks lasts around one minute, with accompanying visuals shared on Instagram. Her boundary-pushing style was further showcased through the “#whackhistorymonth” series in 2019, where she released a new single every week, collaborating with artists like Melanie Martinez and Beyoncé.

In March 2024, Whack released her second album, World Wide Whack, which received positive reviews. Known for her distinctive artistry, Whack continues to redefine hip-hop while pushing the limits of creative expression.
