The Shams

Thee Shams were a garage rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio, that made their mark on the music scene from 1999 to 2006. The group was known for their raw, energetic sound, blending elements of classic rock with the gritty edge of garage music. The lineup included Zachary Gabbard on vocals and guitar, Andrew Gabbard on bass, Joseph Sebaali on drums, Max Bender on guitar, and Keith Fox, also on drums. Together, they crafted a sound that resonated with fans of both indie rock and old-school rock ‘n’ roll.

The band’s discography includes a number of impactful releases that helped shape their legacy in the garage rock scene. Their debut album Take Off (2001) introduced listeners to their dynamic, raucous style. In 2004, they released Please Yourself, which continued to build on their signature sound while gaining them a devoted fanbase. Their final album, Sign the Line (2005), was a fitting end to their career, showcasing their evolution as musicians while maintaining the raw energy that had made them so beloved.

Despite their relatively short run, Thee Shams were widely respected for their authenticity and for keeping the spirit of garage rock alive during an era when many were turning to more polished sounds. Their live performances were legendary for their intensity, and they earned a reputation as one of Cincinnati’s most exciting bands of the time.

After disbanding in 2006, the Gabbard brothers and Sebaali went on to form the Buffalo Killers, continuing to make music together. Though Thee Shams may no longer be active, their influence on the garage rock scene remains significant, and their albums continue to be celebrated by fans and collectors alike.
