About The Killers
The Killers are an American rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2001. Frontman Brandon Flowers (vocals, keyboards) and guitarist Dave Keuning started the project after meeting through a newspaper ad, bonding over their love for British rock and new wave influences. They soon brought in Mark Stoermer (bass, guitar, backing vocals) and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. (drums, percussion), solidifying the lineup that would take the rock world by storm.
The band’s name was inspired by a fictional group in the music video for New Order’s song Crystal. In 2004, The Killers released their debut album, Hot Fuss, which quickly became a global sensation. Fueled by hits like Mr. Brightside, Somebody Told Me, and All These Things That I’ve Done, the album catapulted them to mainstream success and cemented their place in the early 2000s rock revival.
Eager to evolve, they followed up with Sam’s Town (2006), an album with a more Americana-driven sound. They continued experimenting with Day & Age (2008), which featured the synth-heavy anthem Human, and Battle Born (2012), showcasing a grander, more cinematic rock style. After a short break, they returned in 2017 with Wonderful Wonderful, their first album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
In the 2020s, The Killers continued their creative journey with Imploding the Mirage (2020) and Pressure Machine (2021), albums that delved into nostalgia and personal storytelling. Despite lineup changes, they remain one of the defining rock bands of their era, consistently delivering electrifying performances and anthemic music that resonates worldwide.
