TeeDee, born Tom Dempsey, is a DJ and producer from Sheffield who has made a major mark on the UK’s bassline and dance music scenes. Growing up in Parson Cross, Sheffield, TeeDee was deeply influenced by the city’s vibrant bassline culture in the early 2000s, a movement that shaped the sounds of artists like T2 from Leeds and Toddla T from Sheffield.

His musical journey began as a teenager, organizing under-18 bassline events. One of these events became so popular that it was shut down by the police, a testament to his early success in rallying local support. Over the years, TeeDee transitioned from event organizer to producer, blending the iconic Sheffield bassline with elements of deep house and garage music. This unique style caught the attention of major artists, including Jamaican dancehall legend Vybz Kartel, with whom he created a memorable collaboration.

In 2021, TeeDee’s career skyrocketed with the viral success of his track “Love Me” on TikTok, which garnered millions of views and reached number two on SoundCloud, surpassing tracks from global superstars like Drake. This success led to a major recording deal with Sony RCA UK.

Beyond his music, TeeDee co-founded the No Matter What Music Group (NMW), aiming to redefine Sheffield’s musical identity. The collective also includes Hyperactive World, which focuses on bassline and dance music, and East Out West, which promotes South Asian rap. TeeDee’s evolution from local events to an international presence has solidified his role as a key figure in shaping the UK’s contemporary music scene.
