Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., widely known as T.I., was born on September 25, 1980, in Atlanta, Georgia. Raised in the Bankhead area, T.I.’s passion for music began at the age of nine. By the time he turned 19, he had already signed with LaFace Records and released his debut album I’m Serious in 2001.

T.I. is often hailed as one of the pioneers of trap music, a genre of hip-hop marked by raw, gritty lyrics and heavy bass-driven beats. His breakthrough came with his second album, Trap Muzik (2003), which included hits like “Rubber Band Man” and “Let’s Get Away,” solidifying his place in the mainstream. His success continued with the release of Urban Legend (2004) and King (2006), the latter of which featured the massive hit “What You Know.”

Aside from his musical career, T.I. has also dabbled in acting, with notable appearances in films such as ATL (2006) and American Gangster (2007). In October 2024, at the age of 44, he announced his retirement from live performances, expressing that he no longer felt the need to perform for money. His final show was at the Jingle Ball concert in December 2024. Known for his significant influence on the rap industry, T.I. earned the nickname “Jay-Z of the South” from Pharrell Williams.

Over the years, T.I. has amassed numerous accolades, including Grammy Awards, further cementing his legacy as a central figure in music and culture.
