Sunday Service Choir

The Sunday Service Choir is an American gospel group formed in Los Angeles in 2019, led by choir conductor Jason White. Originally brought together by rapper Kanye West as part of his spiritual journey, the choir initially performed weekly gatherings on Sundays, and sometimes on Fridays. The group’s early performances featured powerful gospel renditions of Kanye West’s songs, merging traditional gospel music with modern, contemporary elements, which quickly garnered widespread attention.

Their debut album, Jesus Is Born, was released on Christmas Day in 2019. The album, which reached number two on the Top Gospel Albums chart and number 73 on the Billboard 200, was a major milestone in the choir’s rise to prominence. Following the success of their debut, the choir released an EP titled Emmanuel in December 2020, continuing to carve out their place in the gospel music scene.

Despite Kanye West’s evolving focus, the Sunday Service Choir has remained a vital and dynamic force in contemporary gospel, maintaining a commitment to inspiring and innovative music. In November 2024, the choir released their first Christmas album, Go Tell It, offering a fresh take on traditional Christmas songs. This collection demonstrated their versatility and their ability to expand their musical boundaries.
