Stormzy, born Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. on July 26, 1993, in Croydon, South London, is a powerhouse in British music known for redefining grime and expanding its global reach. He started rapping at just 11, building a name for himself through his “Wicked Skengman” freestyle series on YouTube. His 2015 track “Shut Up,” originally a freestyle, became a viral sensation and climbed to number eight on the UK Singles Chart after a grassroots campaign pushed it toward the Christmas number one spot.

In 2017, Stormzy dropped Gang Signs & Prayer, his groundbreaking debut album that became the first grime record to top the UK Albums Chart. It earned him critical acclaim and a Brit Award for Best Album.
