About SOFT PLAY

Soft Play, formerly known as Slaves, is a British punk rock duo formed in 2012 in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent. The group consists of Isaac Holman (lead vocals, drums) and Laurie Vincent (backing vocals, guitar, bass). Known for their high-energy performances and gritty sound, the band made a strong impact on the UK music scene.

The duo’s breakthrough came with the release of their first three Top 10 albums: Are You Satisfied? (2015), Take Control (2016), and Acts of Fear and Love (2018). Their music blends hardcore, metal, and post-punk influences, drawing comparisons to bands like The Clash, Rancid, and the Ramones. With their distinctive style, Slaves quickly earned a loyal following.

In 2019, the band took a hiatus, during which Holman and Vincent pursued solo endeavors. After a few years apart, they reunited in late 2022 under the new name Soft Play. This rebranding allowed them to reshape their identity and explore new artistic directions, distancing themselves from their past.

In July 2024, Soft Play released their debut album, Heavy Jelly. The album has been met with positive reviews for its depth and evolution, while still retaining the raw energy that first made the band famous. Soft Play continues to captivate audiences with their passionate performances, solidifying their place as an important force in the punk rock scene today.
