Slaughter to Prevail

Slaughter to Prevail is a formidable Russian deathcore band that emerged from Yekaterinburg in 2014. The band’s foundation was laid by the deep-voiced frontman Alex Terrible (Aleksandr Shikolay) and guitarist Jack Simmons, a former member of the UK-based band Acrania. Terrible quickly gained attention for his distinctive guttural growls, which he showcased through YouTube covers, while Simmons brought a wealth of experience to the mix. The band’s first EP, Chapters of Misery, released in 2015, resonated with the underground metal community, and it was later re-released by Sumerian Records in 2016, solidifying their presence in the deathcore scene.

Slaughter to Prevail’s debut full-length album, Misery Sermon, released in 2017, further propelled them into the spotlight, delivering crushing riffs and visceral vocals. In 2021, they followed up with Kostolom, an album that fused deathcore with nu-metal influences, drawing comparisons to Slipknot’s Iowa. Despite gaining a global following, the band faced significant challenges, including visa issues that hindered their ability to tour. In 2022, amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine and increasing political oppression, they made the bold move to Orlando, Florida, seeking a more supportive environment for their music career.

Their music, often bilingual in Russian and English, includes powerful singles like “Agony,” “Demolisher,” “Baba Yaga,” and the anti-war anthem “1984.” In 2024, the band released “Behelit,” inspired by the anime Berserk, and announced their highly anticipated third album, Grizzly, set for release in July 2025. Slaughter to Prevail continues to make waves on the global metal scene with their raw energy and unapologetic sound.
