Shubhneet Singh, better known by his stage name Shubh, is a Canadian-Indian rapper, singer, and songwriter who has quickly risen to prominence in the Punjabi music scene. Born on August 10, 1997, in Punjab, India, Shubh grew up in a Punjabi Sikh family. He later moved to Brampton, Canada, where his passion for music began to flourish. His early life in India, combined with his experiences in Canada, played a significant role in shaping his musical style, which blends traditional Punjabi sounds with contemporary Western influences.

Shubh first gained widespread attention in 2021 with the release of his breakthrough single “We Rollin’.” The track became an instant hit, resonating with audiences for its catchy hook and relatable lyrics, and it quickly established him as a promising new artist in the Punjabi music industry. Following the success of “We Rollin’,” Shubh continued to build momentum with a series of popular singles, including “Elevated” and “Offshore.” His ability to seamlessly fuse Punjabi music traditions with modern rap and R&B elements helped him stand out in a crowded field.

In 2022, Shubh released several more singles, including “No Love,” “Baller,” and “Her.” “Baller,” produced by Ikky, became Shubh’s most streamed track to date, charting at number 68 on the Canadian Hot 100. The album’s track “Cheques” also made waves, peaking at number 3 on Billboard India Songs. Following the release of Still Rollin’, Shubh embarked on a highly anticipated world tour, which included stops in India, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, the UAE, the USA, and Canada. The tour was divided into multiple phases, with each segment highlighting his expansive fan base across different continents.

However, Shubh’s rising career has not been without controversy. In March 2023, he faced backlash after sharing an Instagram story that featured a distorted map of India, which was interpreted by some as supportive of the Khalistan movement. This controversy led to the cancellation of his India tour, and several high-profile sponsors withdrew their support. Despite the setback, Shubh addressed the issue publicly, emphasizing that his intentions were misunderstood and expressing his love for India.

Undeterred by the controversy, Shubh continued to release new music, including his first EP Leo in January 2024 and the single “Bandana” in March 2024. His ability to bounce back and maintain his creative output in the face of challenges underscores his resilience and commitment to his craft.
