SEVENTEEN (세븐틴) is a South Korean boy band formed by Pledis Entertainment, now part of HYBE Labels. The group debuted on May 26, 2015, with the mini-album 17 Carat and quickly gained recognition for their self-producing abilities. With thirteen members—S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino—SEVENTEEN is known for actively participating in writing, composing, and choreographing their music, earning them the title of “self-producing idols.”
The group is divided into three units: the Hip-Hop Unit, led by S.Coups and including Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon; the Vocal Unit, led by Woozi, with Jeonghan, Joshua, DK, and Seungkwan; and the Performance Unit, led by Hoshi and consisting of Jun, The8, and Dino. SEVENTEEN has released several successful albums, including Love & Letter (2016), Teen, Age (2017), An Ode (2019), and Face the Sun (2022). Their 2023 albums, FML and Seventeenth Heaven, set new records for pre-sale numbers and earned them Album of the Year at the MAMA Awards. In March 2023, Hoshi and Woozi, known as the “Mastermind Duo,” celebrated their decade-long friendship and musical partnership with the release of their single album Beam.
