About Scrim
Scott Anthony Arceneaux Jr., professionally known as Scrim, is an American rapper and producer, best known for being one half of the influential hip-hop duo $uicideboy$. Born on April 11, 1989, in Marrero, Louisiana, Scrim grew up in New Orleans, where he developed a deep connection to music from a young age.
Before co-founding $uicideboy$, Scrim dabbled in various aspects of music, including DJing and songwriting. He began his musical journey by sharing tracks online in 2013, and in 2014, he and his cousin, Ruby da Cherry, formed $uicideboy$. The duo’s distinct sound, blending horrorcore with glitch-trap, quickly gained attention for its heavy bass, eerie atmospherics, and raw, introspective lyrics. They launched their own label, G*59 Records, and created the ambitious “Kill Your$elf” series, which contributed to their rising fame.
The duo’s debut album, I Want to Die in New Orleans (2018), marked a significant milestone in their career, reaching number nine on the Billboard 200 chart and solidifying their place in the underground rap scene. Beyond his work with $uicideboy$, Scrim has also explored solo projects. His 2020 album A Man Rose from the Dead delves into themes of recovery, fame, and personal identity.
Scrim’s impact on the music scene is undeniable, influencing a new wave of artists with his distinct sound and unflinching approach to lyrical storytelling.
