SativaMusic, born Kerida Shushana Johnson on July 15, 1984, in Papine, Jamaica, is an artist celebrated for seamlessly blending reggae with modern genres like hip-hop, R&B, and Afrobeats. Raised in a musical family with Rastafarian roots, her father, Albert ‘Ilawi Malawi’ Johnson, was a key member of the Jah Love Sound System, which introduced Sativa to music from an early age. She began performing at just 13, participating in the Twelve Tribes of Israel showcases, which marked the beginning of her musical journey.

SativaMusic’s breakthrough came in 2013 when she contributed to the Jah Ova Evil Movement with tracks like “Jah Have Mi Back” and “Children Of The Emperor.” Her debut album, Unconquerebel (2017), topped the Global Reggae Charts and featured hits like “Rock It Ina Dance” and “Boom (Wah Da Da Deng).” In 2019, she released the Ancient Kingdom EP and the viral single “Boom Shakalak,” which accumulated over a million YouTube views within a year.

Known for her soulful vocals and powerful lyrics, SativaMusic’s performances at major festivals such as Rototom Sunsplash and Reggae Sumfest further solidified her reputation in the reggae scene. She also organizes the annual “Hempress Sativa Live” event in Kingston, Jamaica, aimed at supporting up-and-coming talent. Combining traditional reggae with fresh, contemporary sounds, SativaMusic has firmly established herself as a prominent figure in modern reggae music.
