Satinder Sartaaj

Satinder Sartaaj, born on August 31, 1982, in Bajrawar, Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India, is a highly acclaimed singer, songwriter, poet, and actor, known for his contributions to Punjabi music and cinema. Raised in a middle-class farming family, his early exposure to music sparked a deep passion that would shape his career. His academic journey in music led him to earn an M.Phil and PhD in Sufi singing (Gayan) from Panjab University, Chandigarh, alongside a diploma in Persian to enrich his understanding of Sufi poetry.

Sartaaj rose to fame with his 2010 hit “Sai,” which resonated deeply with fans worldwide. His distinctive style blends traditional Sufi music with contemporary sounds, earning him a global fan base. His contributions to the music industry were recognized when he was awarded “Best International Act” at the Brit Asia TV Music Awards in 2011. Sartaaj’s music remains a beautiful fusion of rich cultural heritage and modern influences, making him a trailblazer in Punjabi music.

Expanding his talents beyond music, Sartaaj made his mark in the world of cinema by portraying Maharaja Duleep Singh in the 2017 film The Black Prince. He has since appeared in Punjabi films such as Ikko Mikke (2020) and Kali Jotta (2023), proving his versatility as an actor.
