Jay R, born Gaudencio A. Sillona III on February 1, 1981, in Glendale, California, is a talented Filipino-American artist known for his contributions to music, television, and modeling. Raised in Quezon City, Philippines, he grew up in a family with deep musical roots—his father, Gaudencio Sillona Jr., is a pianist, and his mother, Amparo Aquino-Sillona, is a singer. Fluent in Tagalog, Jay R was influenced by iconic artists like Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, and Gary Valenciano, which has shaped his own unique musical style.

Jay R launched his music career in 1997 and gained significant recognition with the release of his debut album Gameface in 2003, under Universal Records. The album went platinum in the Philippines, with the hit single “Bakit Pa Ba” topping the charts. He continued to build his music career with albums like Soul in Love in 2008, which became one of his best-selling works, and Elevated in 2014, which included the hit track “Tonight” featuring Mica Javier, a song that soared on radio charts.

Apart from music, Jay R has showcased his versatility in television and film, making notable appearances in series such as Narito Ang Puso Ko (2004) and Hari ng Sablay (2005). His portrayal of Azulan in the fantasy series Encantadia (2006) further established his status as an entertainer.
