Tarik Johnston, professionally known as Rvssian, was born on April 12, 1988, in Kingston, Jamaica. A renowned music producer, singer, and entrepreneur, Rvssian has made a significant mark in the worlds of dancehall, reggaeton, and trap music. Raised in a musically rich environment, he was influenced by his father, Michael ‘Micron’ Johnston, who founded the reggae label Micron Music Limited. Rvssian’s early exposure to music led him to learn instruments such as the piano and drums, providing a strong foundation for his career.

In 2007, he founded Head Concussion Records, a production company in Kingston. His big break came in 2010 when he collaborated with dancehall legend Vybz Kartel on the track “Life Sweet.” Their partnership flourished with the hit “Straight Jeans and Fitted,” which garnered millions of views on YouTube and earned them the “Favorite Local Music Collaboration” award at the 2011 Youth View Awards.

Rvssian’s influence stretches beyond Jamaica, with collaborations with international stars like Bad Bunny, Farruko, Nicky Jam, J. Balvin, and Anuel AA. His 2014 hit “Passion Whine,” featuring Sean Paul and Farruko, achieved Platinum certification by the RIAA, marking a major milestone in his career.

Expanding his global reach, Rvssian worked with Italian rapper Sfera Ebbasta on the track “Pablo” in 2018, which topped Italy’s FIMI Singles Chart. Throughout his career, he has earned numerous accolades, including “Favorite Producer” at the 2015 Youth View Awards, cementing his status as a key figure in global music production.
